Negi Springfield is a 10 year old magic genius who has just graduated from Magic Academy, and dreams of becoming a great magician like his father.
As part of his training, he is sent to Japan to teach English to an all girls junior high school class! When he gets there, he learns that the headmaster of the magic academy has requested that he keep his magic powers a secret. On his first day of class, he is teased by all 31 of his female students, but worse, one of his students, Asuna, who resents Negi the most for replacing the teacher that she has a crush on, discovers his secret.
